Ep 27 Find The Passion and The Money Will Follow | with Guest Katy Wherry
For those of us creative entrepreneurs who find a way to blend our creative passions into our work, we really have our lucky stars to thank (not to mention years of work and practice at something). I mean, how cool is it that we can earn a living doing what we love most with what inspires us. But speaking of earning a living, not everyone wants to pay us for our talents. Worse is when they tell us they can’t pay us anything but they’ll get us “exposure”. When you know, like really know, your worth and talent, exposure isn’t what you’re looking for. Holding boundaries and knowing your worth is key to finding the clients who will pay for your services.
In this episode, I’m chatting with my good friend Katy Wherry. She’s a flutist (a really excellent one) and is on a mission to celebrate the talent of others and lift them up so they can feel confident to go out in the world and not only share their talent but get properly compensated for it too!
We touch on:
- “No” is a full sentence and not making excuses when we have to use it
- The importance of taking breaks from your passions especially when they become your work
- Trust that when one thing doesn’t work out that the thing that is waiting for you is on its way
- Rest without guilt or shame
- Find your passion and the money will follow
- The correlation between the money you spend and the energy you give
And so many more good tidbits!
Enjoy!
